As United Organics expanded refrigerated storage at its Rocklea facility, the electrical infrastructure also needed to expand. The work progressed from new circuits serving additional freezer locations to a dedicated 32A three-phase supply for a refrigerated container.
Commercial electrical distribution, circuit protection, freezer power outlets, testing, labelling and additional three-phase capacity for refrigerated equipment.
Stage 1 — new freezer power circuits
During May and June 2025, the team inspected the new freezer requirements and installed new electrical infrastructure from the main switchboard to the additional freezer locations.
- Installed cabling from the main switchboard to four new freezer locations
- Commenced installation of the required power outlets
- Resealed cable penetrations with silicone after installation
- Returned to site with the required residual-current circuit breakers
- Tested the installed cabling
- Installed circuit protection
- Labelled the completed electrical installation
- Confirmed the freezer units were operational following the works
Stage 2 — 32A three-phase supply for refrigerated container
A later expansion in October 2025 provided for a refrigerated container in the rear awning area. The scope comprised a new 32A three-phase power circuit from the main switchboard to the container location, followed by circuit testing.
Why the staged approach mattered
Refrigerated storage expansion can create an electrical capacity issue as quickly as a refrigeration issue. The United Organics work connected the freezer requirement back to the building electrical distribution, allowing new refrigerated equipment to be added with dedicated circuits, appropriate protection, testing and clear labelling.
Commercial electrical capability for refrigerated sites
This project is a practical example of why refrigeration and commercial electrical capability work well together. Freezers, cold rooms and refrigerated containers depend on suitable electrical infrastructure, and the electrical work needs to be coordinated with the equipment being connected rather than treated as an isolated package.
